The practice keeps its name.
Twelve months minimum after a purchase closes, and after that only for a reason beyond tidiness. It is written down before a deal is signed, not offered as reassurance during one.
British Columbia
Webster Dental Group operates general dental practices in British Columbia. Each one keeps its own name, its own team and its own front door. What changes is the management, the marketing and the software behind it.
Who this is for
Selling, eventually or now
What happens to your team, your name and your patients, written down before there is any reason to negotiate it. The twelve-month name rule, the six steps, and what we are not.
For practice ownersAssociate dentists
Clinical autonomy stated rather than implied, systems that already exist, terms in writing before you sign, and implant, orthodontic and denture work inside the group.
For associatesWithout selling anything
Use the lab, the marketing engine and the software without a transaction. The 3D Studio already produces for practices the group does not own.
Working with usHygiene, assisting, coordination, admin
Six roles across four practices, a regional manager who is not a dentist between patients, cross-training paid for, and a paid working day before either side commits.
For the teamThe group
Webster Dental Group is an owner-operated dental platform. It is not a roll-up and it is not backed by a fund. That distinction is not marketing. It is the reason the whole thing is built the way it is.
Patients chose a practice, a building and a person. They did not choose a group. So the group stays behind the practice, and the practice keeps everything a patient would recognise. The work happens where a patient never looks: management cadence, schedule utilisation, recall, reputation systems, and the software underneath all of it.
Where a facility, a team and a local market genuinely support a service, we add it inside the practice rather than referring it away. Where they do not, we do not pretend otherwise.
Vision
A group of dental practices across Western Canada that any dentist — retiring, or still building — is glad to hand their patients to. Each one keeps its own name and its own character. All of them are run to one standard, and all of them grow from the team already in the building.
Mission
Buy and operate general dental practices, keep what already worked, and give each one the management, marketing and software a single owner cannot build alone.
What we hold to
A value that does not change a decision is decoration. These change decisions.
Twelve months minimum after a purchase closes, and after that only for a reason beyond tidiness. It is written down before a deal is signed, not offered as reassurance during one.
No non-clinician sets treatment, targets or quotas against a chart. The management company never employs clinicians to treat, never bills for clinical work, and never holds patient records as its own.
Every treatment plan carries the fee beside each line and the insurance estimate beside that, before anything is booked. If the numbers move once treatment starts, the plan goes back on the screen first.
Counts, not judgements. A published word that cannot be re-checked on demand does not go out. Every automatically published word passes a compliance gate, and there is no developer bypass.
The group runs on software it built and owns rather than on whatever a vendor is selling this quarter. The same principle applies to a practice that joins us and to a practice that ever leaves.
When a number looks wrong, the process is the first suspect. We have twice found a measure reading as failure when the real fault was a missing input, and people were blamed for both. That is the mistake we design against.
Why this is different
The owner is a practising general dentist who still treats patients. No fund, no board, no exit clock setting the schedule. When a clinical decision and a financial one disagree, a dentist is the person who resolves it.
The twelve-month rule is a written commitment, not a courtesy. Tandem Dental Studio is the case to check: the name changed, the dentist did not, and the practice said so on its own homepage.
Practice operations and marketing both run on systems built in-house and owned by the group: Alvero for practice management and clinical workflow, and Alvero Reach for patient growth and attribution. No practice here waits on a vendor roadmap for a report it needs, and no practice is locked out of its own data. Both are separate companies from the dental practices, built by the same owner.
Superiority language is banned across every practice and every channel, including ad copy, image alt text and schema. That protects the registration of every clinician in the group before it protects anything else.
The 3D Studio is the group's digital lab: full-arch prosthetics, implant and conventional crowns, night guards and dentures. Not paid by the unit, and close enough to talk to.
Where a market supports it, services live in the practice instead of being referred out. Kelowna Dental Centre has a registered denturist and a board-certified orthodontist on site, which is also what makes it somewhere to build a career rather than hold a job.
How we grow
A group that grows by buying the next practice has to keep buying. We would rather grow the ones we already have, with the people already in them. It is slower to describe and it compounds.
Every practice we own has hours in the week that are not booked. Filling those costs nothing to acquire, and the team already on payroll is the team that benefits. A practice running at capacity is a better argument for buying another one than a spreadsheet is.
Most practices are sitting on patients who have not been in for two years, and on treatment somebody agreed to and never booked. Reactivation gets run as a real channel here, with a person accountable for it, rather than as whatever the front desk reaches on a quiet afternoon.
An implant case, an orthodontic case, a denture that used to leave the building now has somewhere to go. The patient keeps the team they already trust and the work stays with a clinician we know. That only works because those services sit inside the group rather than in a partnership on paper.
Cross-train first, hire second. An assistant who wants treatment coordination gets taught it. A coordinator who wants to run a building gets the building. Replacing a team with cheaper people is the move that makes the numbers worse two years later.
The 3D Studio
Most practices send a case into a building they have never visited and wait. The group runs its own digital lab, so the technician who makes the prosthesis is somebody you can walk to and ask. Quality over quantity, because it is not paid by the unit.
Shade queries, a bite that does not feel right, a case you want to talk through before it is milled. The conversation happens with the technician who did the work, usually the same day, sometimes in the same building.
All-on-X prosthetics, single implant crowns, conventional crowns and night guards, designed and finished in house. Complex full-arch work is the reason the lab exists rather than a service bolted on afterwards.
An outside lab is paid per unit, so its incentive is throughput. Ours is not, which means a case can be remade because it is not right rather than because somebody argued hard enough about it.
The lab already produces for practices outside the group. If you want the lab relationship without any conversation about selling, that is a conversation on its own.
